The Bennett Shield—Championship of Alberta
The Bennett Shield was presented by Mr and Mrs A. Bennett of Calgary in August of 1907 to be awarded to the champion team of Alberta. It was first played for in 1908 according to "The History of Soccer in Alberta" by Brad Beckett, published in 1986. The first mention of the Bennett Shield was on March 26, 1908. The competition was postponed in 1914, 1916, 1917 and 1918 due to World War One.
The Bennett Shield was replaced in 1930 by a trophy known as the Campbell Cup, donated by Robert Campbell, president of the Scottish Football Association.
